Tiffin University MBA: Individual Career Development Plan For Mentoring Partnerships
Mentor: ___Ana Paula Fantini_____
Mentee: ___Alex Holley___
Short term goals (what mentee plans to accomplish in several months):
-With this mentorship opportunity, I was to accomplish a successful setting to the classroom in order to provide the information to the students in a professional way so that they have a great opportunity succeed throughout the semester.
-I want to provide information and hands on experience through the lab portion of the course so the students are as ready as they can be to take the CSCS test at the end of the semester.
-Another goal is to become a resource for the students in their future careers.
Steps to take to meet short term goals:
-Planning ahead will be a major goal of mine. I need to stay organized in order to fulfill these goals for myself and the students.
-Reading the material provided will be another step to ensure that I am prepared and organized.
-Time management will be as crucial as anything for me during this mentorship. There is a lot on my plate, so it is important to have quality time management.
Mentor’s suggestions/guidance for short term goals:
- Always be prepared and conduct yourself in a professional manner
with your students. Note that your preparedness and ability to deliver the material might
not be sufficient for students that are not prepared and/or ready to receive it. Therefore, it
does not matter how much you prepare, some students in your class might still fail and it
is ok. Continue to conduct yourself with excellence no matter what.
- Exposing students to the material in many different ways will
allow students to retain the information easier. Keep in mind that the greatest the number
of sensory systems you involve in learning, the greater will be your students’ ability to
retain the information.
- Students do look up to their professors for resources and guidance.
You will be able to do so by letting students know your desire to help them.
Steps mentee will take before next meeting with mentor:
-Work through Moodle to become familiar and organized
-Begin teaching class and organizing assignments and information
-Continue to communicate with Mentor and other people to help along the way
